We just about managed to pack our bags and catch the train to Manchester Airport and a after a couple of flights we found ourselves in America to sample whatever New York could offer! After getting a taxi to the hotel we managed to last until about 10pm before falling asleep (3am BST) and then found ourselves wide awake at 4am. Just about managed to get back to sleep before tucking in to a breakfast of questionable scrambled eggs and doughnuts - gotta love those Yankees!
Anyways, after spending all day in New York we are both completely shattered - it is just a fantastic place although we feel we've only just scratched the surface. Walked through Central Park, browsed through Bloomingdales (and only just escaped the perfume section), dined out in little Italy (complete with serenading trumpeters), saw Statue of Liberty from afar (but will get a bit closer tomorrow) and far too many other things to mention.
On the agenda tomorrow is the Empire State building, ferry trip to Liberty Island and having a look round the site of the Ground Zero - should be interesting given the date.
The only thing was that the weather was a bit on the chilly side - not too much of a problem except somebody forgot there jumper and had to borrow someone else's hoody, which was slightly too baggy - see if you can guess which way round it was.....
Two days down, seventy eight to go!!!!!!!
