Days 13, 14, 15 Hot Baths and hot Fiji

After a night in very cold Rotorua we decided to find some hot baths, not just any baths!! I drove (Kat) through the beautiful countryside to a very small valley which had hot springs and a spa, so we enjoyed around three hours in various pools of hot water - it was by far the most fantastic feeling and so relaxing. It was so cheap as well it cost around 15pounds for both of us. we then set off back towards Aukland, on the way we found 'hobbiton' from Lord of the Rings well the village near where they shot the film, we couldnt see the set as it was very expensive so instead we ate chinese. The journey to Auckland was rather long but we saw a beatuiful sunset on the way and a few sheep!.

The next day was a shock to the system our flight to Fiji was at 7 am, so we got up at 4.30am, it was damp, cold and raining hard. We set off for a hotel which we were going to leave the campervan with before taking their shuttle to the airport, the journey to the hotel should have been about 10 mins away from the camp site so we started off quite relaxed however, with not having a road map as such we managed to go onto the wrong motorway in the wrong direction for quite a while, then after we began to panic we found a local who pointed us in the right direction, in true Kat and Ben style we managed to arrive at the airport just in time (however, it wasn't as a close shave as LA) so no extra leg room for Ben!! New Zealand airlines must love us!!

Anyway after a short flight we arrived safe and sound and rather tired in Fiji!! nothing could prepare you for the sudden change in heat and the mentality of 'Fiji time'. Our first day we thought we would explore the centre of Nadi and check out the beach. Nadi is an interesting city with a diverse population, an Indian and Fijian culture all mixed together!!. The main street we found was quite different to what we had imagined (well for me anyway!!) the shop keepers are rather pushy and they see you as a walking cheque book. The beach was deserted with little urbanisation around it. It wasnt really a popular spot.

Our second day we really relaxed we sat by the pool and chilled out, since being away this was the first time we really did nothing. Much needed after a very hetic few weeks!

15 days down, 65 to go!
